The 'Ban Endosulfan Campaign' photo exhibition by renowned, award winning Photo Activist/journalist Madhuraj from Kasargod will run till the 5th of June 2011 at Rex Theatre, Brigade Road.

There will be a Convention at SCM House, Mission Road, tomorrow 5th June 10:00am onwards. We will have activists from Kasargod ,environmental enthusiasts and activists from Karnataka speaking about first hand experiences, the victims and the effects of the chemical.

There will be a Protest thereafter at Town Hall at 5:30pm.

Twenty states in India have taken a stand on Endosulfan, claiming that there is no need to ban the dangerous chemical. The states of Karnataka, Gujarat and Orissa have reversed their critical stand on Endosulfan. The only state that has asked for a ban is the state of Kerala.

Endosulfan has vicitimised over 9000 victims in Kasargod district of Kerala and similar cases are also being witnessed in districts of Karnataka. Deformities of limbs, loss of motor and nervous control, brain damage are few of the health impacts of Endosulfan.

In this context, we, the Peoples' Solidarity Concerns, a forum of different activist groups in Bangalore, strongly condemn the shift of the Karnataka State Government's stand to support Endosulfan now after having decided to ban Endosulfan earlier. The present decision of the representatives of the Karnataka government is inhuman, anti-people and anti-environment.
